The Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ) is preparing to host a theatrical event that celebrates both art and tradition: "La Catrina en vivo 2024." This play, directed and performed by renowned actor Erik de Luna, will be presented at the emblematic space of Cómicos de la Legua. The play offers a fresh and contemporary perspective on the theme of death, exploring in particular the notion of death and immortality in the present day.

This show is structured in a series of short monologues, no more than five minutes each, and addresses various aspects of the end of life, framing the conversation in the context of the digital age and its impact on our perception of mortality; it seeks to provoke reflection and dialogue on how new technologies are redefining our notions about this cycle.

The staging is a special occasion to celebrate the 25th anniversary of La Catrina with Erik de Luna, who has maintained a close relationship with the UAQ throughout his career. The choice of Cómicos de la Legua as the setting is not a coincidence, as it has witnessed the development and evolution of this figure over the years, further consolidating the link between the actor and this House of Studies.

The anniversary highlights the career of this figure and his cultural impact, and reinforces the actor's commitment to the university community and the theatrical arts. With his characteristic style and depth, he continues to challenge conventions and offer audiences theatrical experiences that are both innovative and thoughtful.

The "La Catrina Live 2024" season will take place on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from October 10 to November 16 of this year, with a single performance per day at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are available at a price of 300 pesos per person in the gayola area and 500 pesos in the patio area, and can be purchased at the offices of Cómicos de la Legua, located at 3 Guillermo Prieto Street, in the Historic Center.
